Katie Wade
Director, Medical Research Process and Governance at Biogen
Speaker

Profile

Katie has worked in medical research for over twenty years across academia, CRO, and pharma / biotech. While she has supported all types of research, she is passionate about the importance of late stage, collaborative research, and RWE. Prior to joining Biogen, she worked as a clinical research project manager at Harvard Clinical Research Institute and then Parexel, and as a late-stage research / RWE biotech consultant. Since 2017 she has overseen Biogen’s global governance of IISR, collaborative, and post-market research. In this role, she designs and maintains the research processes, ensures compliance with global regulations, produces metrics and KPIs, and facilitates cross-functional alignment. Most critically, she has been able to support teams and investigators as they have designed and conducted hundreds of post-market and RWE studies. Recently, she has also been working with grants and IME as the system owner for Biogen’s Grants and Giving System which has provided the chance to explore the connections between this space and the IISR review process and is excited by the opportunity to have an IISR track at the meeting this year.
