Chris Van Mullem is the National Assistant Director of Newmark’s Receivership and Special Assets Group, where he leads strategies to preserve and enhance value for lenders and loan servicers nationwide. He delivers tailored solutions and collaborates with Newmark’s cross-disciplinary teams to drive expert management and value maximization throughout the receivership lifecycle. He works within Newmark’s national Receivership and Special Assets platform, which has overseen more than 11 million square feet across 125+ receivership assignments, including multiple recent appointments in the Pacific West.
With nearly 20 years of experience in real estate finance and law, Chris previously served as Managing Director of Real Estate at Resolute Commercial Services, a boutique workout and restructuring firm. He has managed development and redevelopment projects with Replay Destinations and worked as a capital markets analyst at Churchill Commercial Capital. Earlier in his career, he practiced law focused on bankruptcy and distressed real estate. Chris holds a JD from Thomas Cooley Law School and an MBA with a real estate finance specialization from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Publications include the Arizona chapter on Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors in Thomson Reuters’ Strategic Alternatives For and Against Distressed Businesses (2026) and the “Claims Litigation” chapter in Commercial Bankruptcy Litigation (2026. He is a non‑practicing attorney admitted in Arizona and the United States District Court for the District of Arizona.
