David Constable has over 20 years of experience combining international architecture and real estate development, spanning the sectors of culture, education, commercial office, and residential development. Before Co-founding Heartwood, David was a Principal of KPMB Architects, a leading Canadian Architecture firm in Toronto, where he was a leader in the innovation and sustainability lab. David is now focused on delivering purpose-built rental housing that is compatible with a 1.5 degree world and is beautiful and desirable to live in. These projects include repeatable systems-based thinking, zero on-site carbon, natural materials with low embodied carbon, smart technology for enhanced operation control and continuous learning applied across the portfolio to enhance the projects Heartwood builds and to deliver long-term value to investors.

He is a graduate of McGill University School of Architecture and holds a Master of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design, along with the designations OAA, LEED AP, and is a Certified Passive House Designer.
