Chris Laughman is the Senior Director of Energy & Sustainability at Greystar, where he leads strategic initiatives to enhance environmental, social, and financial performance across the company’s global portfolio. With over 20 years of experience in the real estate sector and more than a decade specializing in sustainability, Chris brings a multidisciplinary approach to advancing resource efficiency, resilience, and decarbonization in the built environment.

His expertise spans utility and energy data analytics, ESG strategy, waste and water conservation, cost recovery, carbon management, and energy procurement. A passionate advocate for aligning sustainability goals with operational and financial outcomes, Chris is known for integrating behavioral insights into technical and policy frameworks to drive meaningful impact.

Chris holds an MBA in Business Sustainability from Marylhurst University, a Master of Arts in Management from Webster University, and is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Environmental Policy & Management Program at the University of Denver. In his academic and professional work, he focuses on bridging the gap between engineering-driven approaches and human-centered design to shape the future of sustainable real estate.
