Evan Brown is the Director of Corporate Sustainability at MAA, a publicly traded real estate investment trust specializing in multifamily housing across the Sun Belt. Evan leads MAA’s enterprise-wide Corporate Sustainability strategy, overseeing performance metrics, disclosure alignment, decarbonization planning, and sustainability-focused strategic initiatives for a portfolio of over 100,000 apartment homes.

With more than a decade of experience in international development, impact strategy, and sustainability performance, Evan brings a cross-sectoral approach to corporate sustainability. Before joining MAA, Evan led global program design efforts at Heifer International, an economic development international non-profit, where he secured 10s of millions of dollars in external funding, pioneered impact measurement frameworks like Social Return on Investment and Living Income, and co-developed a global initiative to expand energy and digital access for smallholder farmers across 20 countries.

Evan’s career spans fieldwork in Lesotho as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer, systems leadership in nonprofit start-ups, and analytical roles in monitoring and evaluation. He serves on the boards of Advocates for Immigrant Rights and the Cooper-Young Community Association in Memphis, Tennessee, where he champions inclusive civic engagement and equitable development. He holds a Master of Public Service from the Clinton School of Public Service and a dual BSBA in Financial Investments and Entrepreneurship from the University of Arkansas.
