Joe Barrett is a Managing Partner at 1 Seed Partners (“1SP”). In his role, Mr. Barrett is primarily responsible for capital formation through RIAs and other retail investment networks. Mr. Barrett has held several senior level sales and marketing positions throughout the investment industry, most recently being responsible for investor relations for retail clients of Blue Owl Real Estate. From 2000 to 2019, Mr. Barrett was Executive Director at Morgan Stanley Alternative Investments, a $65 billion organization. In this capacity, he was responsible for distribution of all alternative investment programs; i.e., hedge funds, real estate, private equity, fixed income alternatives, etc., throughout Morgan Stanley’s Great Lakes Region. Prior to that role, Mr. Barrett was First Vice President at First American Bank’s Trust Division in Chicago, from 1986 to 2000. He led a team of professionals responsible for the distribution of estate/retirement planning and investment solutions to individual and institutional investors.

Mr. Barrett serves as a Trustee for the Bridge Investment Group Industrial REIT and an advisory board member of Little Sisters of the Poor in Chicago, IL.

Mr. Barrett received a B.S. in Finance from Northern Illinois University in 1985 and an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota. He is both a CFA and CAIA charter holder.
