Rocky Derrick launched TDC with Mark Taylor in 2011. Since that time, Rocky has been instrumental in raising over $1B of capital into TDC’s various funds and has led the origination of over $3.9B in loans and equity investments. Rocky continues to lead TDC with the principles of honesty, integrity and transparency on which the firm was founded. Together with his partners and experienced management team, Rocky leads all aspects of TDC’s debt and equity investment operations. He takes an active role in overseeing underwriting, portfolio management and investor relations. Rocky is committed to creating and fostering long-standing relationships with borrowers, development partners and investors.
Rocky’s leadership of TDC leverages his wide-ranging experience in underwriting, distressed asset resolution, investment and development of multiple commercial and residential asset types. Prior to forming TDC, Rocky consulted for and advised real estate lenders, developers, institutional asset managers, and equity fund and REIT investment advisers. He also worked as the SVP of Loan Origination & Asset Management for CM Capital Services during the real estate recession, managing the workouts and repositioning of over $600M in distressed loans. Rocky gained vast experience as the VP of Acquisitions & Development for Seegmiller Partners, where he managed the development of over $100M in real estate projects in Nevada and California.
Rocky holds a master’s degree in Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Utah, where he is currently an adjunct professor in the Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) program.
