Profile
I try to surround myself with people who believe that earning someone’s trust is the most important thing a person can do.
I got my start swinging a hammer in my father’s construction company, where I learned the hands-on side of home building early on. That foundation led to a professional role with NVR, one of the largest homebuilders in the country, where I gained experience in both production and sales management. It was a chance to apply what I’d learned growing up — at scale.
After completing my MBA, I joined the Economics Department at NAHB as Director of Business Analysis. There, I deepened my understanding of the home building industry from both a macroeconomic and operational perspective.
That combination of field experience and industry analysis led me to SMA Consulting, where I began sharing what I’d learned — something I’m still passionate about. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping hundreds of builders and remodelers strengthen their financial and operational foundations.
In 2007, I co-founded Red Door Homes, a national homebuilding company now operating in multiple states. Building and growing that business through one of the toughest times in housing was an incredible learning experience — and one I’m deeply proud of.
In 2015, I became a partner at Berks Homes in Central Pennsylvania. As President, I helped lead the company from one region and $32M in annual revenue to three regions and nearly $200M in annual revenue in just nine years.
Most recently, in April 2025, I acquired Yingst Homes and launched a rebrand under Yingst Building Group. As CEO, I now oversee four divisions: Communities, On-Your-Lot Homes, Remodeling, and Commercial Construction.
Over the past 35+ years, I’ve gained deep technical knowledge of homebuilding—and I’ve been humbled by the leadership lessons along the way (some learned the hard way). Those lessons are, without question, the most valuable.
Home building requires care, discipline, and teamwork. It takes hundreds of people to bring each home to life—and many others depend on you to get it right: homeowners, employees, trade partners, suppliers, bankers, and more. My hope is that when I eventually hang up my hard hat, the people I’ve worked with feel I honored that responsibility and got it right.
