Mr. Carlson is a Managing Director in the Ares Credit Group, where he focuses on alternative credit, including asset-based finance (ABF) investments. Prior to joining Ares in 2024, Mr. Carlson was a Senior Vice President at Bellwether, a third-party asset management firm for institutional investment managers, working primarily on Oaktree Capital's Real Estate Credit strategy and Apollo's insurance CRE lending platform. Mr. Carlson currently serves on the Board of Kids of Malawi, a non-profit focused on improving healthcare in Malawi. He holds a B.A. from Washington and Lee University in Economics and Philosophy and an M.B.A. from the University of California Los Angeles, Anderson School of Management.
