New agreement allows DHL to use Etihad Rail in country

Etihad Rail and DHL Global Forwarding have established a long-term strategic partnership lasting 20 years, enabling DHL to utilize Etihad Rail's network as a primary mode of transportation for its operations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to the agreement signed during the Middle East Rail 2023 event in Abu Dhabi, DHL will integrate the UAE National Rail Network into its logistics operations, using it to distribute goods throughout the country. Amadou Diallo, CEO Middle East & Africa at DHL Global Forwarding, expressed enthusiasm about participating in the UAE's infrastructure investment in the logistics sector. He emphasized DHL's extensive experience in rail and multimodal transport solutions, highlighting their ability to provide fast, secure, and cost-effective connections. Diallo stated that DHL is the ideal partner to support the growth of the railway industry in the UAE.

Gottfried Eymer, CEO of Etihad Rail Freight, welcomed DHL Global Forwarding as a key partner in fulfilling Etihad Rail's ambitious goals. With freight operations already in progress since February, Etihad Rail aims to introduce sustainable transport solutions in the UAE and contribute to economic growth and social development in the region.

The UAE's 900km national rail network has been completed, and commercial freight services by Etihad Rail have been fully operational since February. These services allow the transportation of various types of cargo across the country. The fleet comprises 38 locomotives and over 1,000 wagons.
