Joanne Gibbs is a partner in the intellectual property team at Wiggin LLP in London. Jo’s practice encompasses trade mark, passing off, design and copyright disputes and advice, and she acts for clients from a wide range of industry sectors, including luxury fashion labels, video game publishers and medical device manufacturers. Jo represents clients before the UKIPO, IPEC, High Court and Court of Appeal in the UK, and previously also represented clients before the EUIPO, the General Court and the CJEU. Jo is an active member of the INTA Designs Committee and a contributor to the INTA Trademark Cancellation Guide for the EU. She also co-authors the UK chapter of ‘Design Rights: Functionality and Scope of Protection’ and the chapter ‘Overlapping Rights in Designs, Trademarks and Trade Dress’ in the 2nd edition of ‘Overlapping Intellectual Property Rights’. In 2017, Jo won the AIPPI UK prize for her work in relation to bad faith trade marks.
