Jane Lambert
Barrister at 4-5 Gray's Inn Square
Speaker

Profile

This is Jane Lambert’s sixth year at the IP Law Summer School. She is a barrister specializing in IP and technology law from 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square. She is particularly interested in advising and representing start-ups and other small businesses. They require high quality specialist advice as much as anyone but limits to their resources necessitate creative and innovative solutions. For most of her career she practised on the Northern Circuit first from Bridge Street Chambers and later from her own set proving that it is possible to develop a wide-ranging specialist IP practice outside London. She has been briefed in a number of important cases on patents, copyrights, trade marks, designs, rights in performances, trade secrets and computer supply contracts. Following the implementation of Lord Justice Arnold’s reforms to the predecessor of the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court she accepted an invitation to join 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square so that she could continue to serve her clients. Having qualified as an arbitrator and mediator she sits on the WIPO’s list of neutrals. She has contributed numerous articles, sections of books, her own full-length work “Enforcing Intellectual Property Right” published by Gower-Ashgate and blogs and tweets under the moniker “NIPCLAW”. She lives in Holmfirth in the Pennines. Her interests outside the law include the performing arts (participating as well as spectating), science and technology and supporting the Scottish National Trust and Historic Scotland.
