Chris de BeneducciBarrister at Selborne ChambersSpeaker
Profile
Chris has a broad contentious trusts and estates practice. He regularly deals with challenges to the validity of wills, claims for financial provision under the 1975 Act, and allegations of financial abuse (often involving the misuse of powers of attorney). He appears on summonses in the Probate Registry as well as the usual range of applications in the High Court, including Public Trustee v. Cooper “blessings” and the removal or passing over of executors and trustees. As junior counsel, he is currently instructed in the contentious administration of a high-profile £50m estate.
Chris also specialises in probate professional negligence claims – “disappointed beneficiaries” are a mainstay – and he contributed the “Claims Against Professionals” chapter to STEP’s Contentious Estates course.
He is a co-author of “Drafting Trusts and Will Trusts: A Modern Approach” (15th ed., Sweet & Maxwell), forming part of an editorial team led by James Kessler KC.
