Prior to training in the field of forensic document examination, Ellen was a solicitor and also gained Higher Rights of Audience to become a solicitor advocate. Her extensive experience as a forensic document examiner is therefore supplemented by a strong background in litigation.
Ellen specialises in civil matters before Courts and Tribunals both in the UK and internationally with particular experience in highly complex and high value cases.
Ellen’s work in forensic document examination includes signature authentication, handwriting identification, ESDA (ElectroStatic Detection Apparatus), ESDA Sequencing, non-destructive ink analysis (infrared luminescence and reflectance, microscopy), identification of thermochromic inks, deciphering obliterations, alterations, erasures, printing defects, non-destructive paper examination (for identification and comparison), document manipulations, font identification (and dating of the same), photocopy identification, identification of mass alterations etc. She is experienced in the preparation of joint reports, appointments as a Single Joint Expert and instruction in the role of Expert Adviser.
