Julian Bartholomä is a local partner in the Government Law & Policy Group at Greenberg Traurig. He advises clients on all aspects of pharmaceutical, medical device, and health care regulation in Germany and at the EU level. As an experienced advisor he combines legal expertise with entrepreneurial knowledge and regularly supports his clients in legal as well as strategic matters.


Julian Bartholomä has been deeply involved with the intersection of corporate and health care law, as well as addressing all questions regarding the regulation of the life sciences, pharma, and medical device industry. His legal work primarily focuses on advising pharmaceutical and biotech companies, along with manufacturers of medical devices, throughout the entire life cycle of their products. This begins with issues related to market access, reimbursement, and prescribability of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, followed by regulatory affairs, procurement, and advertising or promotional challenges. This scope includes legal proceedings against competitors or those arising from regulatory body decisions.


Additionally, Julian provides advice on transactions within the regulated market, offering regulatory advice and managing complex restructuring projects. Julian's work frequently involves providing strategic advice, leveraging his network of decision-makers, politicians, and industry leaders. In this context, he regularly advises on challenging demarcation issues related to adjacent sectors such as food supplements, cosmetics, and other consumer goods, helping clients align with the European and German markets. His clientele includes multinational pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies, various ministries and public institutions at the federal level, startups from diverse health care sectors, as well as private equity and venture capital firms investing in Life Sciences/Health care and digital solutions. He also advises other health care providers, including hospitals, medical groups, wholesalers, pharmacies, and digital services.
