Nathalie Smyth is a partner in the Global Disputes team at Jones Day in London. She has more than 20 years of experience advising global manufacturers, importers, and distributors in a wide range of high-value product liability, product safety, and mass tort claims in the UK and EU, with a specific focus on the life sciences and consumer product sectors. Nathalie has considerable experience in the conduct and defence of complex claims against manufacturers of implantable and other medical devices in the UK. These include a high profile, landmark case that has clarified and shaped the law on product liability in the UK. She also advises on compliance with product safety regulations in relation to placing on the UK and EU markets of a variety of consumer goods, and handling/advising on issues arising with post-market surveillance, including recalls, and liaising with marketing surveillance authorities on risk and compliance issues.
