Dr. Taoumi has been leading Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency projects and energy technology deployment for over 35 years. He held several key positions in Morocco and worked with the EU, GIZ (Germany), JICA (Japan) and US AID, as well as a founding member and Executive Secretary of the Mediterranean Association of the National Agencies for Energy Conservation (MEDENER), Spain. He worked as a Regional Programme Officer for North Africa and the Middle East region (MENA) within the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). Between January 2016 and May 2022, Dr. Taoumi worked as a Clean Energy Key Expert within the EU GCC Clean Energy Technology Network (an EU funder initiative). Since June 2022, he was appointed as an Executive Director of “Energy Transitions & Strategies Limited”, a consulting company based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Dr. Taoumi holds a PhD in Electrochemistry from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (INPG) in France and master's degrees in Electrochemical Engineering and Management Science.
