Steve Newcombe

Steve Newcombe is Tax Director for global asset manager, Aviva Investors. He has over 30 years’ experience of the taxation of a wide range of financial services, with a focus on investment management and funds. He has also worked at Schroders and HSBC. At HSBC he had responsibility for tax in its asset management business and was Head of Tax for its Global Banking and Markets division. Prior to that he was with Coopers & Lybrand where he worked as a Senior Manger in the asset management and real estate team and acted as secretary to its International Investment Management Tax Group. During his career, he has chaired the tax committees of Investment Management Association and the Association of Unit Trusts and Investment Funds, participated in the tax committees of the Association of Investment Trust Companies and the Wealth Management Association, as well as the IMA’s VAT panel. He is one of the founder members of the City Fund Managers Tax Group and is also the consultant editor for Tolley’s Taxation of Collective Investment, now in its fourth edition.
