Dr. Francis Huysman is a bio engineer who earned his PhD in Agricultural Sciences. After serving as an assistant at the Vlerick Management School, he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Project Manager where he was involved in studies that resulted in the development of pioneering systems for the efficient management of packaging and packaging waste in Belgium.

Joining Valipac – organization responsible for the circularity of industrial packaging – in 1997, as the Operational Director, he assumed the role of Managing Director in 2017, steering the company towards a new focus on circularity of C&I packaging at European level.

Past September 2024, Fost Plus welcomed Francis as their new Managing Director. In this new role, Francis combines the strategic line of Valipac and the day-to-day management of Fost Plus – organization that promotes the sustainable management of household packaging material. He joined bringing in depth industry knowledge and stakeholder involvement and commitment, which he believes to be fundamental to tackle Fost Plus’ future challenges. His shared function with two key players in packaging management in Belgium, is thought to enable the two organizationsto fully exploit their respective strengths, create even more synergies and further promote the exchange of knowledge and best practices, all while maintaining their unique independence.
