Director - Waste Management at Sociedade Ponto Verde

João heads the Department of Waste Management at Sociedade Ponto Verde (SPV), since 2005. He leads the teams that manage the contracts with municipal operators as well as with the recycling industry and is also engaged in ecodesign and ecomodulation.

SPV is SPV is the leading Packaging Recovery Organization in Portugal, currently with a market share of over 80%.

João holds a BSc in Biological Resources Engineering from the University of Maryland, a MSc in Engineering and Management of Technology from the Technical University of Lisbon and a post-graduate degree in Management from Nova School of Business and Economics of Lisbon. He started his career in 1997 in the pulp and paper industry and has previously also worked for the plastics industry as an operations manager at Plastval S.A..
