Sara D. Brown is the Director of Government Affairs at Prevent Blindness, overseeing all Congressional, public policy, coalition, and grassroots advocacy on behalf of patients across the United States who live with vision loss and blinding eye diseases. Previously, Sara worked in public affairs with Ward Circle Strategies where she managed projects for one of the firm’s biggest clients – the Defense Health Agency. Sara gained in-depth, practical knowledge of Medicare and value-based physician payment policy while leading the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA)’s response to the Obama Administration’s implementation of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA), as well as through a role with NRC Health advising hospital executives on improving patient experience. Sara began her career working for over 6 years with U.S. Senators Jim Webb (D-VA) and Chuck Hagel (R-NE). A Nebraska native, she holds degrees in English and Political Science from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and a master’s degree in public administration from Walden University.
