Agtech startup Solinftec has closed on a $60 million growth investment round led by Lightsmith Group and joined by existing investors Unbox Capital and Circularis Partners and several undisclosed investors.

The company, which has developed a farm operations management software platform, says it will use the funding to grow the platform as it plans for future expansion in North and South America.

Solinftec’s software is designed to use artificial intelligence to analyze real-time data on crops, equipment, weather and other factors to help farmers address key issues in a more efficient and sustainable manner.

The agtech-focused startup was founded in 2007 by a group of automation engineers from Cuba. The company has headquarters in West Lafayette, Indiana, U.S., and Araçatuba, São Paulo, Brazil.

Solinftec said its digital farm operating system is used to manage more than 27 million acres in Brazil, the U.S. and across Latin America. Growers, cooperatives and agricultural retailers use the technology for field crops such as sugarcane, soy, corn and cotton, as well as perennial crops such as citrus, coffee and timber.

The platform, which is AI-powered by a system dubbed ALICE.AI, connects to in-field devices and equipment to collect, analyze and display the information.

“Our mission is to give each farm a sustainable future, promoting the accessibility of technologies to producers and transforming agriculture into a more productive practice, while preserving the planet,” says Solinftec CEO Britaldo Hernandez.
