Rahul Rao is a Partner in the Global Antitrust Practice at White & Case LLP, where he advises clients on merger clearance, government investigations, and compliance strategies, helping them anticipate regulatory scrutiny and mitigate enforcement risks.

Before returning to private practice, Rahul was Deputy Director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition where he oversaw several merger and conduct law enforcement divisions, including those focused on pharmaceuticals, life sciences, bio tech, retail, labor, consumer goods, and private equity. Before he appointment to the FTC, Rahul was a Managing Assistant Attorney General for the State of Washington and Antitrust Division Team Leader.

Rahul is a frequent public speaker on antitrust and litigation issues and has testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Antitrust, appeared as part of workshops hosted by both the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, and presented to the National Association of Attorneys General, and several sections of the American Bar Association.

After beginning his legal career as a judicial clerk on the D.C. Court of Appeals, Rahul joined the Trial Department at McDermott Will & Emery LLP in Washington, DC. Rahul later moved to the Litigation Practice Group at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in New York City.

Rahul received his J.D., with honors, from George Washington University Law School, and his bachelor’s degree in economics from Villanova University.
