Sébastien Poirrier
Radiation Protection Engineer at Edvance
Speaker

Profile

Sébastien Poirrier graduated from the ENSICAEN (National graduate school of engineering and research center) located in Caen (Normandy, France) with a Master’s degree in Electronics and Applied Physics focusing on nuclear engineering and advanced instrumentation. In parallel, he obtained a Research Master's diploma in collaboration with the University of Caen in Nuclear, Atomic and Collision physics.

Sébastien has recently joined Edvance as a Radiation Protection design engineer after holding the same position in Framatome Engineering and Design Authority (Lyon, France)."

His role is to provide Radiation Protection support for EDF New Builds projects in the design phase or in the construction phase.

With the construction of EPR nuclear power plants in France (FA3), Finland (OL3), China (TSN) and in the UK (HPC), Sébastien has been dealing with various topics such as the definition of RP design requirements, the evaluation of radiation source terms, the estimation of ambient dose equivalent rates, layout arrangement reviews and shielding design to ensure personnel accessibility to the reactor building plant at power and during outages.

He also contributes to the EPR2 and ATMEA1 nuclear power plants projects on similar topics.

Other aspects of his work are the design optimizations to ease construction or operations, and the development of 3D models for complex MCNP radiation propagation studies.

Sébastien supervises trainees and junior engineers joining the team.
