Duncan has over 30 years experience in international finance gained in senior roles with major organisations in London and Hong Kong, including NM Rothschild – where he led the syndicate advisory team on the Hong Kong Disneyland project, HSBC and Columbia Threadneedle covering structured finance, syndicated lending and debt & equity capital markets.
In recent years he has specialised in advisory work in structuring and arranging project financing for infrastructure development, working with Multi-lateral Development Banks (MDB) on renewable energy project finance as well as “financing the UN Sustainable Development Goals” initiatives in conjunction with MDB and philanthropic organisations as well as with commercial & investment banks and investors in the MENA region and internationally. Major projects have included the Gautrain project in South Africa and the Lake Turkana Wind Power project in Kenya. Increasingly transactions have involved Green Bond issuance as well as sustainability-linked loans syndicated across international banks and other participants. He is currently advising major banks in the MENA region on project finance structuring for major projects including “giga-projects” such as NEOM in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A former Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) examiner and tutor at all three levels, Duncan provides tuition for the CFA Institute’s ESG Certificate and the CFA UK Climate & Investing programmes and has delivered ESG and sustainability programmes for a number of the World’s leading financial institutions.
