Niels Van Weereld is CEO of CERRIX, the European GRC platform for financial institutions. He leads the company’s growth across Europe, both organically and through acquisitions. In 2026, CERRIX acquired Ruler, an AI-powered regulatory intelligence platform.
Before CERRIX, Niels co-founded and led Metamaze, a Belgian AI company, and steered its acquisition by UK-based Duco Technologies in 2024.
He believes that by 2030, AI will handle the routine and risk professionals will focus on judgement. Getting there is a journey, not a leap. His ambition is for CERRIX to be the GRC partner at every step, from spreadsheets to AI-augmented risk management.
