Sotaro Kato is Executive Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer at Nomura Holdings, Inc. Mr. Kato served as Co-CRO for Nomura Holdings, Inc. and CRO for Nomura Holdings America between 2016 and 2020. He was the Head of Group Risk Management for Nomura Holdings, Inc. from 2014 to 2016.

Prior to that, Mr. Kato managed various sales and trading activities for Global Markets in both Japan and in the Americas. Before joining Nomura in 2002, Mr. Kato served in various roles at the Bank of Japan for 10 years and his final assignment was a chief trader for the Open Market Operations desk.
