Nina M. Hanevold-Sandvik is Vice President, Casualty and Major Claims at Skuld’s head office in Oslo. As part of the Casualty and Major Claims team she supports the Association’s 11 offices spread across 3 continents in the handling of casualties and large claims, with a primary focus in dealing with emergency response, hereunder collisions, allisions, groundings, fires, capsizing, salvage, wreck removal and major pollution incidents for both Owners and Charterers entries entered for P&I and H&M risks with Skuld. She also actively contributes to Skuld’s sustainability work.
Nina is a qualified Norwegian lawyer and prior to joining Skuld in 2021 she worked for 12 years in private practice for a Norwegian international law firm. She has particular expertise in maritime, marine insurance and environmental law and has experience both as an emergency response lawyer and as a litigator. She has three law degrees from universities in New York, Edinburgh and Oslo. Nina regularly acts as an external examiner at the University of Oslo, and is a member of the board of the Norwegian Maritime Law Association (CMI).
