About 35 years ago, Eric A. Sohn met a tall dark stranger named OFAC. One $25,000 Civil Monetary Penalty later, he realized that, as fascinating and complex as she was, she was no cheap date. The next 3 decades were mostly a blur - of sanctions. Managing sanctions operations and IT solutions at UBS and Computershare. Being a professional services consultant installing, configuring and providing training on screening solutions for Accuity - mostly for sanctions. Helping screening solutions sales get across the finish line by being the SME in the room for Dow Jones - the sanctions SME, of course. Eric even helped develop ACAMS’ CGSS certification test, and trained people for that exam. He thought his life was complete…until… Late in 2025, Eric met another stranger in a dark alley… named Claude. It took a while to learn what Claude liked, and didn’t like to hear when Eric talked to him. But, Eric & OFAC’s relationship, and that of MrSanctions.com, Eric’s website, were never the same again.
