Speaker

Profile

Nicholas is Head of White & Case LLP's Global Employment, Compensation & Benefits Group and has experience in a broad range of matters for clients of all sizes, from technology start-ups to global investment banks.

Nicholas supports clients globally on the design and international implementation of equity and cash-based incentive plans. This work involves investigation and analysis of the securities, tax, foreign exchange, employment, data privacy and e-commerce issues clients may encounter in each country where they operate.

Nicholas has also handled the employment, compensation and benefits aspects on a variety of major corporate transactions, including advising on UK pensions issues in the context of large leveraged buyouts, and subsequent restructurings and the establishment of new equity incentive plans in preparation for high profile IPOs post-transaction reductions in force, and the recruitment and termination of key executives. In addition, he regularly advises clients on the establishment of management incentive plans in a private equity context.

Nicholas has particular experience advising banks and other financial services companies on the design, implementation and operation of compensation policies and plans. He ensures compliance with the complex rules and regulations on compensation across the European Union deriving from CRD III, CRD IV and AIFMD, including the FCA and PRA Remuneration Codes in the UK.

Active in professional circles, Nicholas is a former Director of the Global Equity Organisation, and a member of the Global Stock Plans Task Force of the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals. He is also a committee member of Share Plan Lawyers and an associate member of the Association of Pensions Lawyers.

Widely recognized for his insight into the latest employment, compensation and benefits issues, Nicholas is a noted author on related topics, and regularly speaks at external seminars and conferences.”
