Paul black is a hands-on business development and operations senior executive in the ports, shipping and freight forwarding industry. He tutors the essentials of shipping and port agency courses having been a port agent for many years in London, Africa and the Middle East handling a range of vessels including bulkers, container vessels, refer vessels, general cargo ships and RO/RO carriers, liner vessels and trampers.
Paul led business development and operational projects for Singapore port operator PSA, international. Following the Gulf War, Paul rebuilt a shipping agency in Kuwait and diversified the company into freight forwarding, and chandlery which instigated the JV with CMA-CGM.
In the UK he was general manager of a US $100m European 3PL, implemented an operational change in a London hub for FedEx UK, formulated and executed the turnaround strategy of Harrison container line securing and managing global key account profitability and established from scratch a successful freight forwarding, customs brokerage and bonded warehousing business for a national road freight operator.
He has an MBA from Manchester Business School UK, is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, a member of Fiata, and sat on the ocean freight advisory committee of BIFA the British Freight Forwarders Association.
