Speak up and find your voice
Hear from the participants and winners of the 2023 showcase on why this was an invaluable experience and what they will take away from the workshop to help further their careers:
Back in 2018 IMpower Incorporating Fundforum and WIAS came together and founded The Voice Project to kick-start a powerful personal and professional mind-set for women at the beginning of their careers in investment management.
On the 20th of April, our 4th instalment of the Finding Your Voice workshop took place. Five speakers from the WIAS network, LGBT Great and Black Women in Asset Management participated in a rigorous public speaking workshop run by public speaking training expert, Alison Campbell, where they learnt invaluable skills about writing and delivering speeches as well as how to own a room. Skills that last year's runner up, Chimmy Ngoma, Sales Enablement Associate, Calastone, used during her keynote about facing your discomfort zone, what opportunities could lie ahead and how finding her own voice has increased her confidence.
Three hours later, all five speakers delivered presentations on a subject they are passionate about using these skills to an audience and panel of judges. Topics of the presentations ranged from park runs and Formula 1 to unconscious bias and being misdiagnosed for 15 years.
After much deliberation, the judges came to a decision of two joint winners, Megan Pope and Magui Santos Silva. The winners and all the participants have been invited to attend IMpower 2023 and participate in a panel discussion 'If I was CEO...'
