Dr. Christoph Schmitz is entrepreneur and scientist with passion. Having grown up on a farm, the birth of his daughter in 2012 made him consider how nature can be fixed component of our educational system. The idea of the educational program GemüseAckerdemie was born. Today Christoph leads his own social enterprise and together with his team of 200 employees Acker is committed to foster the appreciation of nature and food in our community. With its multi-award winning GemüseAckerdemie and AckerRacker educational programs, Acker has established vegetable gardens as nature-based learning environments in over 1.800 schools and pre-schools in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. By 2030, Acker wants to enable every child to experience the entire growth process of food during their school career.
