Joaquín Alexandre Ruiz TarréHead – EIF Discretionary Portfolio at European Investment Fund (EIF)
Joaquín began his career in wealth management at UK’s firm of advisors Levy Gee (Madrid; 01-03). In 2006, he moved to Luxembourg and worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers (03-06), advising various Private Equity funds on investment structures.
After his MBA (06-07), Joaquin joined the European Investment Fund in 2008, where he has invested over EUR 1.4bn in multiple asset classes; his track record includes fund investments in venture, small and medium buyouts and hybrid debt/equity funds, direct co-investments in companies under the Mezzanine Co-investment Fund, a EUR 100m direct co-investment program which he managed, and secondary investments.
Joaquin is heading EIF secondary activities; and since 2016, in charge of EIF’s Discretionary Portfolio, a EUR 250m programme targeting secondary investments, he has closed 14 investments to date.
At EIF, Joaquin has also managed and invested Neotec Capital Riesgo, a EUR 183m Spanish based fund-of- funds and co-investment fund, and the Portugal Venture Capital Initiative, a EUR 111m Luxembourg based fund-of- funds to develop the Portuguese private equity market.
Joaquin holds a Degree in Law from Nebrija University (Madrid; 97-01) and an International MBA, from IE Business School (Madrid and Shanghai; 06-07).
