Stephan has over 35 years’ experience researching and investing in private equity globally, as both a consultant and fund manager. He has advised pension plans on investments in infrastructure and private debt for close to 25 years and has supported investments in direct deals as well as funds. He has advised a range of institutional investors across asset classes, but now focuses on private markets. He has helped deploy over $10 bn in alternatives for different organisations and pioneered investment in renewable energy and African private equity for UK pension plans.

Stephan built the research teams covering private equity and hedge funds at several organisations. Although most of his work experience is private equity related Stephan has experience in a wide range of investment consulting activities. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and has written several articles and papers. He currently advises over $3 bn of investments in private equity, infrastructure and debt for several different institutions.

Stephan is on the Advisory board for two private companies and two General Partners. He has been an active member of private equity funds including enforced wind-ups.
