Gyongyi was appointed as chief investment officer of Alexander Forbes Investments in August 2017. She heads up the largest multi-manager investment team in South Africa comprising 27 investment professionals. The team covers all investment activities, including manager research, portfolio management, private markets, investment research and trends, and risk analysis.

Gyongyi joined Alexander Forbes Investments (previously Investment Solutions) as deputy chief investment officer. Prior to that, she spent seven years as Caveo Fund Solutions’ CIO when she moved from the UK to South Africa in 2009. Caveo has been one of the largest and most successful fund of hedge fund businesses in South Africa, largely due to her investment leadership. She has over 22 years’ investment experience, including multi-management in the alternative investment arena.

Gyongyi spent seven years at Henderson Global Investors, a UK asset manager, as a hedge fund manager research analyst. She then joined Switzerlandbased EFG Private Bank, working for five years as a member of the investment team with responsibility for the alternative manager selection team and the alternative investment multimanager portfolios
