Camille Asaro is an Audit partner with KPMG’s New York Financial Services practice with a specialization in alternative investments. Camille has 32 years of experience in the financial services industry through roles at various public accounting firms and the private sector. Currently, Camille focuses on accounting, auditing, and structuring of private equity and hedge funds. Camille is the global lead Audit partner for various private alternative asset managers with assets under management up to $170 billion. Camille has extensive industry knowledge in areas such as financial reporting, internal controls, valuation, and governance. Her experience includes valuation of investment portfolios comprised of privately held portfolio companies, hard-to-price equity and debt securities, and complex derivatives. In addition, she has an in-depth understanding of pricing methodologies of illiquid financial instruments including the market comparable, discounted cash flows and asset valuation approaches. Camille is a certified alternative investment analyst (CAIA).
Camille is passionately involved with KPMG’s diversity and inclusion initiative specifically focusing on positioning underrepresented groups for career success and board seats. Currently, Camille serves as a board director for the Women’s Forum of New York, sits on the leadership council for Women Corporate Director’s New York Chapter and is a member on the steering committee for the Annual Investors Forum Network. Previously, Camille served as the lead board director for Women Corporate Directors Foundation (WCD) from 2019 to 2022. During her tenure with WCD, Camille was the nominating committee chair for hiring the CEO of the organization.
Camille is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. Most recently, Camille spoke at the Women’s Private Equity Summit addressing the challenges and opportunities facing managers with their ESG platforms and at the Women’s Annual Investors Forum discussing the resilience of women in the Financial Services Industry. Additionally, Camille has authored thought leadership through her work with the Women in Alternative Investment survey, “Power or Peril?” “The Call to Act,” and “Realizing the Return on Gender Diversity.” She is a founding contributor of the Women in Alternative Investments Report.
Prior to joining KPMG as a direct entry partner, Camille spent 17 years at various public accounting firms serving clients in the capital markets and private investment funds industry assuming overall responsibility for audit design, implementation, execution, administration, client relationships, and reporting to international offices. In addition, Camille spent five years at a few financial service companies supporting the C-suite executives managing the company’s cash flow, capital needs, investor relationships, strategic planning, and budget process. At one company, Camille was a risk committee member and monitored performance management and the business risks.
Camille received her BSBA in accounting from Hofstra University’s Frank G. Zarb School of Business and is a certified public accountant and a certified alternative investment analyst. Camille has been recognized in Crane’s New York Business 2020 Notable Women in Accounting and Consulting.
