Claire Gillig-Brouwer is the manager of the Sustainability Standards Integration team at FMO. The team is responsible for the operationalization on investment level of new ESG regulations as well as FMOs commitment to Paris Alignment striving toward 1.5ºC pathway.

Before joining FMO in 2023, Claire worked in commercial banking and in consultancy for more than 20 years where she has pioneered and designed sustainability approaches and concepts, developed framework and policies with the aim to scale sustainability processes and tools, from sustainability due diligence to sustainability financing products and more recently sustainable finance regulations.

In her last role, Claire focused on the development and further integration of the sustainability risk framework within the Corporate Bank, the implementation of the rapidly evolving sustainable finance regulations and on supporting the bank’s clients in their own sustainability transition through the provision of tailor-made sustainable financing solutions. Claire was also a member of the bank’s ethics committee, advising the board on complex ethical dilemma associated with the bank’s clients, products or services.

Following her master’s degree in economics (2001), Claire started her career at ABN AMRO in financial markets as a market risk manager, before joining the sustainability risk advisory team of the bank in 2006. Over the last 17 years in sustainable finance, Claire has developed a strong knowledge of international sustainability standards and frameworks, their practical application to real cases, their value as well as their limitations.
