Gregor Cigüt is Head of Secretariat at the Global Emerging Markets Risk Database (GEMs) Consortium (www.gemsriskdatabase.org). The Secretariat is hosted at the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg and facilitates the programme of the world’s largest credit risk database for emerging market operations.

Gregor oversees the team of experts and service providers in charge of risk data compilation, methodological concepts, statistical reporting, events and communications, coordinates GEMs Consortium meetings and assemblies, and manages relationships with institutional stakeholders and partners. He has led the Secretariat since 2022, during which time the Consortium has developed into a publicly available data source that supports mobilization of private capital into developing economies.

Gregor’s over 15 years of experience include previous stints at the European Investment Bank, Slovenian Central Bank and Slovenian Ministry of Finance, where he worked in the areas of credit risk modelling, policy formulation and sovereign debt management. Gregor also lectured at the University of Ljubljana, from where he holds a master’s degree in financial mathematics, and is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM). Outside of work, Gregor enjoys traveling and various sports.
