Michael Prahl is a partner at New Industrial Partners, a Singapore based private investment holding, focusing on industrial and industrial technology companies. New Industrial Partners acquires controlling positions primarily in owner-managed companies, taking a long-term view on its investments and seeking opportunities that can benefit from an expansion to or within Asia.
Michael started his investment career 25 years ago in venture capital during the tail end of the dotcom boom, moving into buyout investing shortly after. He spent several years with Apax Partners, working on a number of high-profile deals in Europe and the US before moving to Asia to help establish the firm’s Asian operations. He has completed multiple Asia centric investments in various partnerships over the last decade before co-founding New Industrial Partners.
The first Executive Director of INSEAD’s PE Centre, he still teaches the MBA Leveraged Buyout elective at the school. He is the co-author of the standard textbook "Mastering Private Equity” (Wiley, 2017). Michael holds an MBA from INSEAD and MSc in Business Administration from HHL Leipzig.
