Sebastian Popik is the Founder and Managing Partner of Aqua Capital, a leading private equity firm investing across North and Latin America in agribusiness, food, water, waste, logistics, and related technologies.
He brings over two decades of senior private equity and operating experience, with a clear investment focus on climate-resilient agriculture, food security, and enabling technologies across the food value chain. Sebastián’s investment philosophy is grounded in control-oriented, operationally intensive investing, partnering with management teams to build category-leading businesses through strategic focus, disciplined capital allocation, and hands-on execution.
Under his leadership, Aqua Capital has been recognized as one of the leading ag and food private equity investors in the region, with global recognition for its climate and sustainability program and its integrated, operator-led approach to value creation. The firm’s strategy is based on the conviction that climate adaptation, resource efficiency, and food system resilience are durable sources of long-term competitive advantage and attractive risk-adjusted returns.
Sebastián serves as Chairman of Aqua Capital’s Investment Committee and chairs the boards of several portfolio companies, including Novus Ag, Solubio, Comfrio, Innova, and Raíx, where he is actively involved in strategy, governance, and execution.
Previously, he was a Parter at PE firm Pampa Capital, the Founder and CEO of Salutia, a healthcare technology services company, and worked as a management consultant with Booz Allen & Company across the Americas. In 2021, he was named one of Bloomberg’s 500 Most Influential Latin American Businesspeople.
He holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University, which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Universidad de San Andrés. Sebastián was also a founder and board member of CIPPEC, one of Latin America’s leading public policy think tanks.
