David Michael is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Anzu Partners, a venture capital firm focused on helping innovative cleantech and life sciences technology companies achieve success.

Mr. Michael’s work in cleantech investing includes Board roles at e-Zinc, a long duration energy storage technology company backed by Toyota, Mitsubishi, and ENI. He is also a Board Director at Niron Magnetics, backed by Samsung, GM, Magna International, and others. He is also an investor at EnChargeAI, a DARPA-funded producer of highly energy efficient AI processor chips for data centers and edge devices—where TSMC and Samsung are also investors. Lastly, Mr. Michael is also an investor at XGS Energy, a pioneer in a new form of geothermal power production which does not use any groundwater. XGS Energy’s investors include Constellation Energy.

Michael is also a professor of practice at UC San Diego, who teaches courses on the China and Asia business environments at the School of Global Policy and Strategy.

He is the co-author of six articles in the Harvard Business Review, Michael holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard in economics and an MBA from Stanford, where he received the Ernest W. Arbuckle Award. He was a Rotary Scholar at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
