Rudy Wynter is the President of National Grid’s New York business, managing one of the largest utility entities in New York State with 8,000 employees providing electricity and natural gas services to 4.2 million customers. The company’s New York service area spans from Niagara Falls to the forks of Long Island.
In his role, Wynter is accountable for all facets of the New York business including operations, financial and regulatory aspects and managing relationships with government officials, and the communities National Grid serves. Wynter is committed to organizing and delivering safe, reliable and affordable energy to customers, while advancing National Grid’s net zero solutions and New York’s clean energy goals, while leaving no one behind.
Under his leadership, National Grid is thinking beyond its conventional energy services to create a more equitable future for every customer and neighborhood it serves. In September 2021, Wynter launched a major initiative, “Project C,” to focus on community investment, workforce development and environmental justice.
In his more than 30-year tenure at National Grid and its legacy companies, Wynter has served in several senior and operational roles, most recently as Chief Operating Officer of the company’s Wholesale Networks & Capital Delivery business, overseeing one of the largest electric transmission networks in the northeast and New England’s first large-scale battery energy storage system.
Wynter has also held senior positions in National Grid’s Shared Services, Customer Operations, Strategic Planning, Engineering, and Operations groups.
Wynter serves on the board of directors of EnerSys (NYSE: ENS), the Foundation for Energy Security and Innovation, the Business Council of New York State and the Partnership for New York City. He is also a member of the American Gas Association, and the Edison Electric Institute.
