Gareth Davies MP is a Member of the UK Parliament and recently served as Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, where he led work on foreign direct investment, infrastructure strategy, and energy policy. In that role, he advanced reforms to unlock pension capital for growth investment, oversaw the UK’s carbon market and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, and helped shape major infrastructure initiatives spanning transport, energy, and data.
Before entering government, Gareth was a senior executive at Columbia Threadneedle Investments, where he built and scaled global investment platforms, developed ESG capabilities into a $32 billion franchise, and led cross-border mandates with sovereign wealth and pension funds.
Currently a Senior Fellow at Harvard University’s Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government, he focuses on the interface between private capital, geopolitics, and public policy. A frequent commentator for CNBC, Bloomberg, and the BBC, he is also the author of a forthcoming book on geofinance (Bloomsbury and the Brookings Institution). He holds an MPA from Harvard and a BA in Politics from the University of Nottingham.
