Michael has invested directly at the security level and indirectly as an asset allocator in traditional and alternative asset classes. He has managed, lead and built investment businesses, including distribution and client relation teams. His most recent role was Managing Director and Head of Alternative Investments at First Republic. Prior to that, Michael was at APG, a Dutch pension provider, where he was a Managing Director and served on the board of directors. Before that he was the Chief Investment Officer at MOV37 and Protege Partners; he was a portfolio manager and global head of equities at FRM, a multi-strategy investment solutions provider; he was a portfolio manager at Credit Suisse; and he started his investing career as a portfolio manager at Soros, the foundation and family office. Michael is an Adjunct Professor of Finance at Columbia Business School, where he teaches Institutional Investing, an MBA course that he created.
