Profile
Richard is the Co-Founder & General Partner at Underscore VC, a venture capital firm that invests behind software entrepreneurs from the earliest stages of their journey. After a decade since inception, our partnership now actively manages $300M+ invested capital across multiple venture funds on behalf of some of the leading endowments, foundations, and universities worldwide. Richard's career path started as a quant at Goldman Sachs, then a developer at Apple, and ultimately leading the launch of Procter & Gamble's D2C eCommerce business. Following that, he founded a venture-backed machine learning startup that was acquired, and honed his venture craft at Founder Collective before co-founding Underscore VC.
A true programmer at heart, he even named his children after telecommunications protocols. Away from programming and supporting founders from ideas to IPO, Richard is an accomplished skier and former member of the United States Ski Team. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and holds Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering from Cornell University.
