Sam Lawson is general partner at Flywheel leading the firm’s investment and investment management activities. Sam is a seasoned investment and financial services professional with over a decade of experience in venture capital, private equity and capital markets.

Prior to Flywheel, Sam served as the Vice President of Capital Markets at Crowdcube, Europe’s leading early-stage investment platform, where he led the development and launch of the firm’s Secondaries and Public Markets business. Prior to Crowdcube, Samuel was a Senior Associate at Circle in New York City, where he was responsible for sourcing, due diligence and execution of early and late-stage investments and syndications. Across Crowdcube and Circle, Sam led deployment of $75mm+ across 21 deals from Seed to Series F.

Sam's career began at AR Global Investments, a New York-based alternative investment firm, where he quickly rose to the position of Assistant Vice President. At AR Global, Sam directly supported the Founding Partners across investment, fundraising, strategic and portfolio management activities, helping to execute over $20 billion in primary and secondary equity, debt and commercial real estate transactions, and to scale the firm’s overall portfolio from $9 billion to $41 billion in assets under management during his tenure.

Academically, Samuel holds an MPhil in Management from the University of Cambridge, where he was a recipient of the Judge Business School Scholarship, and a BA Hons in History from the University of York, graduating with First Class Honours. Sam previously held Series 7, 82 and 63 licenses.
