William Thompson joined HarbourVest in 2019 and focuses on analyzing, structuring, and monitoring secondary private equity opportunities, including traditional and complex transactions.

William joined the Firm from Goldman Sachs, where he was most recently an executive director in the Investment Banking division focused on mergers and acquisitions in the healthcare sector. Prior to this, he was a senior analyst in the Healthcare Investment Banking division at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey.

William received a BS (with distinction) in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008, where he received the Walter S. Spearman Chancellor’s Award for achievement in scholarship, leadership, and character.
