After declining a PhD offer from Imperial College London, Carman Chan embarked on an entrepreneurial journey in the technology industry. With over 20 years of experience as a serial entrepreneur, venture capitalist, tech columnist and international speaker across 20 countries, Carman has worn many hats. In 2022, she transitioned her focus to managing her own single family office and investing in funds rather than direct deals.
Carman is an author of accelerated learning books and was formerly a tech columnist for computer magazines and newspapers. Her first startup EnglishStreet became a case study at Harvard Business Review and was later acquired by Hong Kong Economic Times (0423.HK). Her second venture Click Limited had investors including the first CFO of Tencent and the founder of Cherubic Ventures, and eventually merged with Hiiir and was acquired by FastEastone (4904.TW).
She has been interviewed by major publications like Harper's Bazaar, Wall Street Journal and South China Morning Post. Carman also made the cover of Nikkei Asian Review among the top 5 Women to watch in Asia Tech.
Founded in 2015, Carman's fund Click Ventures was ranked in the top 5 best performing seed funds globally. Its subsequent fund placed first in the 'Fund to Watch' category by Preqin for performance. From 2019-2021, Click Ventures consistently ranked among the top performing venture capital funds worldwide.
In 2022, Click Ventures launched an Impact Initiative and was selected by the World Economic Forum as one of 17 innovative funds. Later that year, Carman transformed Click Ventures into her own single-family office managing existing investments with a new focus on allocating capital to funds instead of direct deals
