Douglas Abrams is the Founder and CEO of Expara, Southeast Asia’s leading accelerator and venture fund. Since 2007, he has launched and invested in five venture capital funds and has been a driving force in building the region’s start-up ecosystem.

He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore Business School, where he has taught New Venture Creation and Venture Capital since 2001. He is also a Visiting Professor in Venture Capital at Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, as well as at universities in Hong Kong and Vietnam. Douglas previously served as Chairman of the Business Angel Network of Southeast Asia (BANSEA) and sat on the Board of the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA).

In 2023, Douglas took on the role of CFO at Meticuly, one of Expara’s portfolio companies, marking the first time in his 20-year venture capital career that he stepped into an executive role within a start-up. He holds a BA in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from The Wharton School.
